Here’s how the storm front impacted Gaston and Cleveland counties


About one inch of rain fell in a short amount of time across Cleveland and Gaston counties Wednesday, according to the National Weather Service.

While states to the west saw devastating impacts, the area escaped with some heavy rain and strong winds.

The storm moved into Cleveland County around 6:15 a.m. and progressed into Gaston County about 30 minutes later.

Winds gusted up to about 50 mph.

A meteorologist with the Weather Service said Wednesday morning that no damage had been reported, though some small trees might have come down.

Higher winds are expected to continue through Wednesday with some potential for light rain.
