Officials say if you see smoke during a burn ban, call 911 immediately.
BENTON COUNTY, ARKANSAS, Ark. — Multiple fire crews responded to a brush fire in Benton County just before 10 p.m. on March 13.
This comes as weather conditions in the region have prompted burn bans and are expected to increase fire risk.
According to social media posts, the Hickory Creek Fire Department (HCFD), Piney Point Fire Department (PPFD), and Hwy 94 East Fire Departments are just a few of the agencies who worked to put out the blaze south of Piney Point Baptist Church.
5NEWS was on the scene where sparks and small flames would pop up during the early morning hours. Crews were still monitoring the area at 6 a.m. to ensure it would not reignite.
Sebastian County Director of Emergency Management Travis Cooper says the public is asked not to burn or start any fires or outdoor cooking that may result in a large flame. Cooper says this can trigger or set an ember off into an area that would start a grass fire.
