Charlotte Fire struck a second alarm while battling the fire at a business on E. Morehead Street.
CHARLOTTE, N.C. — A two-alarm fire erupted Saturday morning at the Morehead Tavern in Uptown Charlotte, prompting a large response from the Charlotte Fire Department.
The building fire broke out in 300 block of East Morehead Street around 8 a.m. near Caldwell Street. The fire was visible when firefighters arrived, with smoke billowing from the business.
Fire officials struck a second alarm, escalating the response to bring more crews and equipment to fight the growing fire.
Firefighters are working to contain the flames and prevent spread to nearby structures in the busy Uptown area.
