Lakers’ LeBron James Expected to Miss Another Week amid Groin Injury

Los Angeles Lakers star LeBron James is expected to miss another week with a groin injury, ESPN’s Shams Charania reported Friday during an appearance on The Pat McAfee Show.

James suffered a groin strain on March 9 against the Boston Celtics and Charania initially reported he was expected to miss at least one-to-two weeks.

James said after the team’s 111-101 road loss that there was “not much concern” and adding that he would “go day to day.”

In his 22nd NBA season, the 40-year-old James has averaged 25.0 points on 51.7 percent shooting, 8.5 assists and 8.2 rebounds per game.

The Lakers were in the midst of a four-game road trip at the time stretching from March 8-14. The team sent James back home for further treatment, but good news emerged on Thursday from head coach J.J. Redick, who said that the 21-time All-Star was “day-to-day” alongside forward Rui Hachimura and center Jaxson Hayes.

Without James on a shorthanded Lakers, the onus has been on Luka Dončić to assume far more responsibility alongside backcourt mate Austin Reaves. Gabe Vincent and Dalton Knecht have seen more court time.
