Just under 5,000 Entergy customers in New Orleans and Jefferson Parish were without power Saturday afternoon as a line of storms approached the metro area.
The Entergy outage map indicated 2,671 customers in Jefferson and 2,226 in New Orleans were in the dark just before 3 p.m.
By 5:30 p.m. that number was down to 1,400 in Jefferson and 1,367 in New Orleans.
Statewide, Entergy showed 12,118 without power.
Cleco showed 95 customers out statewide, 78 of them on the northshore.
The storm system has the River Parishes and the northshore under a tornado watch, and a tornado touched down near Kentwood earlier in the day.
