The University of Maine Black Bears are set to take on the Northeastern Huskies at 7:30 p.m. Thursday at TD Garden in Boston.
Second seed UMaine men’s hockey team has a 22-7-6 record, while ninth seed Northeastern is 14-19-3. Northeastern is the lowest seed to ever reach the Hockey East semifinals.
The game will be available to stream through ESPN+, or NESN+.
Graduate student center and co-captain Lynden Breen said head coach Ben Barr “had so much determination and work ethic” that it was “almost undeniable” to think that the program would move in the right direction, crediting Barr for “how he carries himself and how he leads as a coach.”
If the Black Bears beat Northeastern Thursday night, they will take on the winner of fourth seed UConn (21-10-4) versus third seed Boston University (21-12-2). The winners will play in the championship game at 7:30 p.m. Friday, which will also be held at TD Garden.
The Hockey East championship competition on Friday will be available to stream on NESN+ as well as ESPN+.
