Max Muncy Makes MLB History With Hit In Tokyo Series

The Los Angeles Dodgers completed a sweep of the Chicago Cubs in the Tokyo Series on Wednesday, which saw Max Muncy join a rare group in MLB history with a double in the second inning.

The 34-year-old became just the fourth player ever to record a hit in at least five countries/territories. Edgardo Alfonzo, Xander Bogaerts and Paul Goldschmidt have also accomplished the feat.

“I think it’s just a blessing,” Muncy said after the Dodgers’ 6-3 win. “Being here with the Dodgers for as long as I have, you get a lot of opportunities with the team that we have. To me, that’s just a blessing.

“I’m very thankful I get to be a part of these events that we’ve been doing. I’m thankful I was able to be a part of Korea last year, be a part of Japan this year, be a part of Mexico when we did it back in 2018. It’s just a blessing to be able to do that.

“You’re talking about trying to grow the game of baseball, experiencing different cultures, it’s just really cool to be able to do it. The stat is a random one, but it’s fun.”
