A long-term closure due to a landslide is likely to impact traffic flow at California’s Yosemite National Park for the foreseeable future.
According to the California Department of Transportation, a “long-term full closure” has been put in place along State Road 140 between Briceburg and Yosemite Cedar Lodge following a landslide that took place on March 17. At last report, geotechnical experts were assessing the situation with no estimated time of reopening.
This road closure cuts off a key route of access to the popular park for those visiting from the south, with the Yosemite website further clarifying that the route is now closed between Midpines and El Portal.
Visitors have been instructed to enter the park via Highway 41 (south of the park) or Highway 120 (west of the park).
