BERKS COUNTY, Pa. – The National Weather Service (NWS) issued a tornado warning for parts of Berks County Monday. It was cancelled just before 6:30 p.m.
A 6:11 p.m., a severe thunderstorm capable of producing a tornado was located near Adamstown moving east at 20 mph.
Affected municipalities included Wyomissing Hills, West Lawn, West Reading, Lorane, Kenhorst, Mount Penn, Birdsboro, Laureldale, Reiffton, Reading, Whitfield, Wyomissing, St. Lawrence, West Wyomissing, Mohnton, Shillington, Flying Hills, Spring Ridge and Sinking Spring.
Also included was Interstate 176 between mile markers 6 and 11.
In the event of a tornado, people are advised to move to a basement or an interior room on the lowest floor of a sturdy building and to avoid windows.
