Petrobras has announced a reduction in diesel prices by R$0.17 per liter. This measure represents a 4.6% decrease in price effective this Tuesday (April 1), stated CEO Magda Chambriard during an event held at Petrobras’s headquarters in downtown Rio de Janeiro on Monday (March 31).
“Our diesel [price] is nominally 20.9% lower compared to December 2022,” said the executive.
Ms. Chambriard also mentioned that the price of aviation fuel is expected to drop starting on April 1. “We review prices every 15 days; we adjust when necessary.”
Petrobras last adjusted diesel prices at the beginning of February, by 6.28% or R$0.22 per liter, after spending over a year without price changes.
In addition to the company’s pricing, diesel also became more expensive due to increases in the Tax on the Circulation of Goods and Services (ICMS) charged locally. Before the price increase in February, the state-owned company last cut the cost of diesel by 7.4% at the end of December 2023.
