At 6:12 p.m. on Monday, the National Weather Service issued a tornado warning in effect until 6:45 p.m. for Berks County.
“At 6:11 p.m., a severe thunderstorm capable of producing a tornado was located near Adamstown, or near Reading, moving east at 20 mph,” says the weather service. “Flying debris will be dangerous to those caught without shelter. Mobile homes will be damaged or destroyed. Damage to roofs, windows, and vehicles will occur. Tree damage is likely.”
Locations impacted by the warning include Wyomissing Hills, West Lawn, West Reading, Lorane, Kenhorst, Mount Penn, Birdsboro, Laureldale, Reiffton, Reading, Whitfield, Wyomissing, St. Lawrence, West Wyomissing, Mohnton, Shillington, Flying Hills, Spring Ridge and Sinking Spring. This includes Interstate 176 in Pennsylvania between mile markers 6 and 11.
