Warriors’ Jonathan Kuminga Out vs. Spurs With Right Ankle Injury

Jonathan Kuminga has been officially ruled out of the Golden State Warriors’ game against the San Antonio Spurs on Sunday due to “right ankle soreness.”

Kuminga recorded four points and one rebound before exiting in the first half.

The 22-year-olds injury occurred as he drove to the hoop before taking a hard fall, landing with little to no support as his body hit the ground.

Sunday’s game was Kuminga’s ninth since returning from a sprained ankle that sidelined him for 31 games. He is averaging 16.2 points, 4.7 rebounds, and 2.3 assists this season in 40 games.

Kuminga is under a four-year, $24.855 million contract with the Warriors after being selected No. 7 overall in 2021.

After Sunday’s game against the Spurs, the Warriors have eight games remaining in the regular season. They currently sit sixth in the Western Conference, teetering on the edge of avoiding the play-in tournament.

Golden State, the Minnesota Timberwolves and the Los Angeles Clippers are separated by just 0.5 games, occupying the sixth through eighth spots in the Western Conference standings.
