Beware of possible hail during afternoon storms in South Florida

PEMBROKE PARK, Fla. – Scattered showers and some thunderstorms were briefly interrupting weeks of drought in parts of South Florida on Tuesday afternoon and evening.

The National Weather Service announced Miami, Hialeah, and Miami Beach were under a “special weather statement” warning of a risk of hail until 2:45 p.m.

As a cold front and a disturbance moved through, conditions could lead to strong and damaging wind gusts.

Some of the storms could be strong to severe before mostly dry conditions on Wednesday.
