The Los Angeles Lakers selected Bronny James 55th overall in the 2024 NBA draft. Pairing the former USC guard with his father, LeBron James, Los Angeles formed the first father-son duo in league history.
Leading up to the NBA draft, there were reports about Klutch Sports CEO Rich Paul telling teams not to draft James, essentially ensuring he would be available when the Lakers selected 55th.
“Rich Paul is calling teams, don’t take Bronny James,” former Golden State Warriors general manager Bob Myers said on ESPN before the draft. “He’s telling them, ‘Do not take him… if you take him, he’s going to Australia.'”
