Jaguars to release TE Evan Engram after three seasons in Jacksonville

After serving as a key part of Jacksonville’s resurgence under Doug Pederson, Engram’s injury-shortened campaign and a change in regime spelled an end to his time with the Jaguars. According to Over The Cap, Engram will account for significant cap savings — $15.48 million, to be exact — if he’s designated as a post-June 1 release.

With new general manager James Gladstone overseeing operations, Jacksonville is attempting to reshape its roster in rapid fashion, sending the two players with the two highest cap hits (Engram and Kirk) packing in order to clear cap and turn toward the future.

With three 700-plus-yard seasons and two Pro Bowl nods to his name, Engram should attract interest in an open market that’s relatively slim on tight end talent.
